Redfern Farm Services was at Ag Days in Brandon!
The annual event, considered an exposition of agricultural production expertise, technology, and equipment, takes place annually at the Keystone Centre.
Folks from across Canada and the U.S. who were at the event had an opportunity to listen to a variety of different speakers and Redfern Farm Services made sure to take in and listen to a few of them!
The first speaker Redferns.ca stopped by to listen to was Ralph Eichler, minister of agriculture for Manitoba.
Eichler gave his dignitary address, which was an update so-to-speak on the ag industry in the province on Day 1 of the event (Tuesday, Jan. 16).
“Year after year, it (agriculture) exceeds expectations,” said the minister, who spoke for roughly 15 minutes. “Farming continues to be an economic driver for Manitoba’s economy.”
Eichler says for many producers in Manitoba, 2017 was a tremendous year.
“The ag sector is an essential part of growing our economy and ensuring the fiscal sustainability of our province.”
Eichler highlighted several industry accomplishments, noting several company expansions. He also mentioned that the province set a record in farm cash receipts for the second consecutive year! The total, he says, surpassed $6.2 billion in 2017.
He also mentioned how important it is to celebrate the accomplishments of young producers.
“Young farmers are a critical segment of our sector that we need to encourage, foster and support.”
Eichler was just one of several speakers Redferns.ca went and listened to… so make sure to check back with Redferns.ca for more on Ag Days 2018!
